Join Community Legal Aid SoCal as a Case Manager and be the vital link connecting clients to justice, resources, and hope.

The Case Manager will provide holistic case management services to CLA SoCal legal services clients. This full-time, hourly, non-exempt position reports to the Supervising Case Manager for the unit in which they are assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct bio-psycho-social assessments.
  • Provide array of case management services based on needs identified in assessment, present case findings to team and review case records.
  • Dependent on grant, provide services to specific client population and assist with grant reporting and deliverables.
  • Empower clients to become involved in their individual case planning and goal setting.
  • Maintain regular contact with assigned clients via client’s preferred method of communication.
  • Serve as an emotional support for client during legal proceedings.
  • Observe confidentiality of attorney-client relationship.
  • Build rapport with clients, community partners and legal team to address concerns from a case management perspective.
  • Establish meaningful and effective relationships with community partners and conduct outreach events with community partners.
  • Identify community service gaps and assist in the development of needed services and improvement in the quality of services.
  • Provide referrals to community resources and services and warm handoff to community partners for additional services.
  • Provide appropriate referrals for reassessment.
  • Create case management documentation including progress notes and case plans.
  • Support the creation of a client-centered culture emphasizing client’s autonomy, assisting in restoring client’s power and control.
  • Monitor progress of supportive services, as well as, evaluating availability and effectiveness of supportive services.
  • Provide case management perspective and trauma responsive education to legal team.
  • Collect data necessary to meet funding requirements and statistical reports.
  • Provide consultation and in-service training to staff.
  • Enter time and notes into Case Management System.
  • Travel to meet client at a safe location for services, when appropriate.
  • Travel to all CLA offices in Santa Ana, Norwalk, and Compton when needed and depending on assignment.
  • Attend Community Outreach events on weekends/and or evenings.
  • Provide brief crisis intervention services for clients.
  • Follow all organizational and grant compliance policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as required to meet the needs of the organization.

Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred. LCSW or related license desirable but not required.

Qualifications

  • Spanish Bilingual proficiency – Required.
  • Two years’ experience as a case manager or social worker - Preferred.
  • Articulate, creative, and passionate case manager with excellent written and oral communication skills, computer skills, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong personal work ethic, initiative, and ability to organize time, and manage diverse activities with minimal supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, client communication?skills and comfort working with indigent clients.
  • Strong technical skills; including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Desire to learn as well as share knowledge with other team members.
  • Empathetic and energetic attitude while working with?others.
  • Ability to interact with a wide range of clients utilizing trauma-informed frameworks.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, active insurance policy or other ability to travel frequently in and around the service area for representation and to engage with clients and community partners - Required.
